I was dismayed and very upset at the length of time I was in each department eye clinic and emergency department , but I will say the nurse is charge was very specific with the information that she conveyed in fact she was lovely , and made it clear of wait times , the eye clinic was much the same lovely staff ,all doctors involved in my care were thorough friendly and caring
I know nhs is going difícil time but I havevto wait to long 12 hours still no see a doctor due to Sever back pain and the chairs were verte hard seat but onle you trying your best with what you have and that is just understandable thank for all your help and the wonderful job you all doing
Sent to A&E by GP as I was experiencing chest pains and shortness of breath I have an existing heart condition. Dr wrote a letter for the hospital. I waited over 9 hours in what I can only describe as third world conditions to see a doctor by 6.30 am I was exhausted and discharged myself far from helping me the experience caused me more stress and pain.Queens hospital, as far as I have experienced, is not fit for purpose.
I was kept waiting in a&e for 44hours whilst barely getting seen too and having barely any medication or pain killers. Had to sleep in a very uncomfortable chair which lead to me having terrible neck ache, leading to a very bad migraine which made me be sick. The head nurses weren’t much help and left you there in pain. You’d ask for pain killers from 5 people and finally get them 2 hours later. I kept getting lied to about “getting a bed”. People who had came into A&E significantly after me were getting admitted and seen to before me even though I was told I was getting a bed and was priority. Then when I asked I was first told it’s because I’m young and the older patients required the bed more, then I was told it’s because their situation was more serious than mine and I just kept getting fed lies. I also felt like I was treated like a human and more like an animal. Felt intimidated to even speak to some of the head nurses as they didn’t have no bedside manner and were rude and blunt but were laughing and chatting with their colleagues whilst patients were crying in pain. I completely understand that it isn’t an easy job to be a nurse or a doctor but the easiest thing to do is to communicate with the patients and let them know what is going on, rather than lying to them and ignoring them as if they aren’t even their. This experience in Queens has really effected my mental health and triggered my depression and anxiety again. I cried continuously because of the pain and how my mental health was effecting me. The comment about my age made me feel so insignificant and like my problems were invalid because of my age (even though 25 isn’t that young).
Because Queens hospital is the worst in England no drink no food I can hardly walk with other illnesses and no one gave a dam
It was an absolutely appalling experience.. sat on a trolley in a corridor for over 36 hours
Very long waiting time. I wasn't informed why I have to go to different department after initial visit with first doctor...just been told to wait and go. Second doctor was actually very helpful and communicated with me very well so I knew wjat to expect. Unfortunatelly I have my emergency surgery cancelled twice now and still waiting for phone call. Feeling very stress as this is misplaced bone injury in right hand and I'm not able to work or do anything with this hand!
I discharged myself as I was quoted a 15 hour wait for my blood test results which is frankly insane for someone brought into A&E with chest/abdominal pain on morphine.the treatment up to the point of the blood test was flawless btw.
Also I still haven’t got the blood test results so I have no idea what the problem was - I called to get them and was told they can’t be given on phone - brilliant.
Overall the care and compassion shown was good
Overworked , understaffed . 11 hour waiting time .
